Hundreds of exhibitors and two days of conferences will draw visitors on May 10-11.

The 15th annual Luxe Pack New York show takes place on May 10th and 11th at Pier 92 in Manhattan. Organizers at Infopro Digital USA say they expect this to be the most successful edition yet, and are ready to welcome more than 3,600 visitors, including senior industry packaging, marketing, and creative executives. More than 230 leading packaginåçg manufacturers and suppliers are exhibiting, representing the beauty, fragrance, wine and spirit, gourmet food, and fashion sectors. The show will highlight an interactive workshop, “Turbo Talks” presentations, and a full conference program. Expect Changes Visitors can expect to see a few major changes, designed to deliver a better show experience. A new Innovation Wall and digital display will showcase exhibitors’ most impressive packages and product developments. There will be a new entrance to the show, created to shorten the walk onto the pier and reduce crowds at the elevator. Redesigned exhibitor booths will feature new aesthetics, which will complement new decor on the show floor. The show will also feature its first-ever theme, “Igniting Packaging Innovation Through Alternative Worlds.” It intends to provide a “visually dynamic, inspiring, and insightful experience to inspire creative thinkers to look at common things in uncommon ways,” organizers say. Amway will present a new Innovation Workshop geared around the theme. John Morgan, global senior research scientist, Discovery Open Innovation, Amway, will discuss packaging innovation, then lead the audience through an interactive process. As experts in sustainable materials, Material ConneXion will create a special visual display that will feature “out of box” and “alternate world” materials, to inspire creativity. Branding/Packaging When building a brand, the package becomes the physical manifestation of the brand concept, name and product. On May 11, at 2pm – 3:30pm, Marc Rosen, renowned packaging designer and president, Marc Rosen Associates, will lead a panel of experts including: Ted Owen, vice president, global package design, Clinique; Jonathan Ford, CEO, Pearlfisher; Alejandra Thompson de Jordan, marketing director, Chanel; and R. Scott Creighton, principal, Creighton Advisory LLC. Keeping Sustainability at the Forefront Luxe Pack New York will host its annual In Green Awards during a cocktail reception. Trophies will be awarded to two exhibitors for an impactful, sustainable product and an effective CSR initiative. The annual competition intends to continue to inspire advancements in sustainable packaging. On Wednesday, May 10, at 4pm, Beauty Packaging’s editor-in-chief Jamie Matusow, will moderate a panel entitled “Luxury Packaging with a Conscience: The Ingredients for Success.” Featured speakers include: James Neri, vice president of global package development, The Estée Lauder Companies (please see article by Neri on page 44 of this issue); Sheri Koetting, co-founder and chief strategist, MSLK; Inger Heinke, business director, cartonboard, Billerdudkorsnas; and Andrew Dent, vice president of Library & Materials Research, Material ConneXion. Thinking Outside the Package “Disrupt or be Disrupted: Moving Beyond the Standard Modes of Thinking & Problem Solving will be on the agenda in the conference room on Thursday, May 11, at 11:45am to 12:45pm.
